Board of Management
The Board of Management is appointed for a period of four years. The primary objective of a board of management is to ensure that the school is managed in a manner that provides all of its pupils with the best possible education. The Education Act 1998 outlines that it shall be the duty of the board to “manage the school on behalf of the patron and for the benefit of the students and their parents and to provide or cause to be provided an appropriate education for each student at the school for which that board has responsibility”.
Structure of the Board of Management
- Two nominees of the patron.
- Two parents elected from parents of students attending the school – one mother one father.
- One staff member elected by the school staff.
- The school Principal, appointed ex officio.
- The ‘Core Board’ must then unanimously appoint two members from the wider community.
